Patient Care Technician

Kulpsville, PA
The Patient Care Technician functions in an Urgent Care Center setting to support and assist the staff in providing care to neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. This is a part-time position, located in Kulpsville, PA.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintains clinical knowledge and skills, in order to provide quality patient care to neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. 
  • Assists patients entering the Urgent Care Treatment area.
  • Assists in preparation of patients for examination.
  • Obtains and documents vital signs and measures and records visual acuity.
  • Performs and documents blood glucose monitoring. 
  • Performs and documents urine reagent testing and other waived tests applicable to patient care.
  • Applies oxygen delivery equipment.
  • Performs wound cleansing.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies for laceration repair.
  • Applies dressings, splints, and orthopedic appliances, measures for crutches.
  • Performs cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
  • Performs venipuncture with or without placement of angiocath.
  • Performs EKGs and applies cardiac monitoring equipment.(EMT-Paramedic certification required)
  • Assists with appropriate patient restraint when directed by the professional staff.
  • Provides patient instruction in the safe use of crutches and walkers.
  • Assists in the control of disruptive patients or visitors.
  • Restocks and cleans patient care areas.
  • Understands and makes decisions that align with the mission, values and strategic plan.

  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct Policy.
  • Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulations, organizational policies and accreditation and compliance regulations.

  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all safety related competencies and requirements.  Works safely by eliminating unnecessary risks by utilizing available equipment, procedures and resources.
  • Adheres with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Performs unrelated duties based upon operational needs in an emergency.
 Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities
  • Possesses strong technical aptitude
  • Competency in the use of a variety of computer hardware and software systems
