Shipping/Receiving Material Handler

Telford, PA

Position Summary: The Shipping/Receiving Material Handler is responsible for receiving, staging, organizing materials, and processing outgoing shipments to ensure efficient production flow and timely delivery. This position ensures that all components, tools, and supplies are accurately accounted for and delivered to the appropriate production areas in a timely manner, and that finished goods are prepared and documented correctly for shipment. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive incoming materials, verify accuracy against packing slips, and inspect for quality or damage.
  • Stage materials for production according to job requirements, ensuring all necessary components are ready for the next process.
  • Utilize provided check sheets to confirm job completeness before materials move to the finishing stage.
  • Move parts from sanding to finishing areas, ensuring items are properly handled to avoid damage.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and notify supervisor of shortages or discrepancies.
  • Process and prepare finished products for shipment, including verifying order contents against shipping documents and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Assist in packaging finished products for shipment, ensuring correct labeling, staging, and coordinating with carriers for pickup.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and in accordance with training.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Follow all safety policies and participate in regular safety training.
  • Cross-train in other production support tasks as needed.

Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 to 2 years of warehouse, shipping/receiving, or material handling experience preferred.
  • Experience using UPS WorldShip or similar shipping software a plus.
  • Ability to read work instructions and job travelers.
  • Experience or ability to learn to complete shipping documentation (e.g., bills of lading).
  • Basic math skills and attention to detail.
  • Forklift certification or ability to become certified.
  • Dangerous Goods Certification a plus.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles a plus.
  • Kaizen experience a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Physical Requirements:
  • Required to bend, lift, and push up to 50 pounds. Employees should not lift materials from pallets without approval and proper protective equipment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Occasional exposure to temperature changes and loud noise.
  • Must adhere to PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements at all times.
