Inventory Specialist

General Summary of Position

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing warehouse inventory, receiving and storing materials, coordinating outgoing shipments, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This position ensures that incoming materials match supplier packing lists, inventory is properly labeled and organized, and adequate stock levels are maintained. The Inventory Specialist also prepares regular inventory reports for the Production Supervisor/Manager and identifies opportunities to improve warehouse processes and efficiency.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage the flow of inventory, including receiving, stocking, organizing, and storing materials.

  • Accept and sign for warehouse deliveries.

  • Unload deliveries and verify that quantities received match supplier packing slips.

  • Enter received inventory quantities into QuickBooks.

  • Ensure materials are properly labeled and stored in designated warehouse locations within 48 hours of receipt.

  • Coordinate and oversee outgoing shipments via UPS, FedEx, less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers, couriers, and other shipping methods.

  • Pick and prepare orders for shipment.

  • Perform routine inventory counts.

  • Record and maintain inventory levels on a weekly basis.

  • Manage and track material remnants from completed work orders.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment.

  • Prepare and communicate regular inventory reports to the Production Supervisor/Manager.

  • Monitor inventory levels to help ensure appropriate stock availability.

  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve inventory management, warehouse organization, and operational efficiency.
