Quality Assurance Technician

Expectations of Position:
  • Carry out daily QA functions requiring sample testing of all part dimensions using various gages and optical comparators.
  • Quality review of first piece/incoming/final piece inspections.
  • Daily tracking of gages and ensure their periodic calibrations are carried out.
  • Understanding of various metal alloys and their machinability: Aluminum, Steel, Stainless of various hardness, other metal compounds and Polymers (Delrin, Nylon, Teflon, etc.).
  • Understanding of various metal coating processes, their specifications and compliance to these specs (anodize, painting, powder coating, and passivation). Applicant must solve for necessary pre-plate dimensions prior to machining and plating.
  • Analyze new blueprints to draft new in-process quality reports using appropriate gages, calipers, micrometers, plugs, thread rings, and optical comparators. Responsible for creating quality check sheets to ensure conformance of the finish product to the print specifications
  • Previous experience working in shop where goal was 0ppm reject rate. In the event of a reject, applicant will draft a Non-conforming Product Report. This requires analysis of parts and evaluation of possible rework for the rejected parts, as well as the documentation of the process for future production runs.
  • Inspection of machine parts and mechanical components
  • Experience with all QC tools
  • Experience in a machine shop environment
  • Ability to accurately identify all dimensions and their tolerances from blueprints provided
  • Knowledge of ISO-9001-2015 a plus
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Experience using QC machines such as CMM, optical comparator
  • Familiar with the continued improvement policies required by ISO9001:2015 and ability to help to maintain good standing and compliance.
  • Excellent attention to detail. Many of our jobs require tolerances of .0002.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills including trigonometry required.
  • Verbal and written communication skills necessary.
  • Continuous use of hands in fine manipulation using various motor functions.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • 2 to 5+ years in metal manufacturing and fabrication as QC technician.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products such as Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Strict adherence to safety and health workplace standards.
