Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Enter patient information in to Center system for scheduling and registration purposes.
  2. Place cases on Center schedule.
  3. Carry out “front desk” duties such as greeting patients, family members and visitors; answer incoming telephone calls and relay messages as appropriate, and manage the patient registration process.
  4. Interact with all patients, practitioners, colleagues and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  5. Maintain OR schedule.
  6. Alert DON in a timely manner to any unusual scheduling matters.
  7. Administer various registration forms to patient/parent.
  8. Answer incoming phone lines; distribute calls as appropriate. 
  9. File/scan patient documents in to patient records. 
  10. Accept delivery of Center supplies as appropriate.
  11. Maintain inventory of office supplies and Center forms.
  12. Respond to Center emergencies as appropriate.
  13. Prepare daily OR schedule.
  14. Distribute mail as appropriate.
  15. Adhere to Center policies.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Receptionist experience, preferably in a health care setting.
  3. Working knowledge of PCs and other digital devices, and various software programs.

Other Qualifications and Considerations

  1. Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  2. Flexible.
  3. Periods of sitting, standing, computer use.
  4. Ability to read, write and speak English.
  5. Potential exposure to disruptive or uncontrollable patients.
  6. Handle potentially dangerous materials.
  7. May have unanticipated need to work overtime.
  8. Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
