a non-profit located in Doylestown, PA is adding a new Vice President of Operations Position. 

This position reports directly to the President and is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive development program with clear fundraising goals, and a communications plan to guide growth in resource development and brand management across the organizations. This person will help establish a vision and plan for development/advancement programs through collaboration with the President to prioritize goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a member of the executive management team and maintain close working relationships with the President and Board of Directors to strengthen the organizations' financial resources.
  • Create, execute and regularly evaluate development plans that utilize best practices in annual, major, planned gift programs; capital and endowment campaigns; corporate and foundation grants; and special events.
  • Maintain a dynamic portfolio of major gift prospects in all phases of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Provide leadership for donor and constituent relations programs, and special events to expand and diversify the pipeline.
  • Provide leadership for existing major gifts campaign and initiate future campaign plans.
  • Serve as staff liaison for the Board Development and Governance Committees, the external Leadership Council and "Building for Innovation" Committee, and other committees as needed.
  • Develop effective internal and external messaging and methods of communication to support development and advancement goals for the organizations.
  • Serve as an exemplary representative in the community to build new relationships for the organizations.
  • Recruit, hire, coach, supervise and inspire advancement staff toward accountable, goal-oriented outcomes.
  • Be active and involved in the advancement profession to remain current, connected and effective.
  • Travel is required and the Vice President must be willing to travel 20-30% of the time.
  • All other duties as assigned by the President.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The successful candidate will be expected to be the driving force in strategic and operational leadership in advancing the non-profit’s mission and related organizations through the design and execution of a comprehensive advancement plan that generates financial support from individuals, foundations/corporations, and state and federal grants. Must have a proven track record of successfully closing on major gifts. The candidate must have a strong vision and remain actively engaged in helping to lead staff and the Board to institutionalize philanthropy and fund development for the organizations while promoting accountability and ensuring a high level of compliance standards and the effective stewardship of funds. Strong organizational, supervisory, and leadership capabilities are required. Exceptional communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively to establish an inclusive vision and plan, and the ability to hire, supervise and inspire their staff.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree is required with a Master's degree in a relevant field preferred. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience as a development and advancement professional, preferably in the nonprofit sector, is required. The successful candidate will be committed to the mission of the non-profit and related organizations, and have the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Personal integrity, a strong work ethic, enthusiasm and energy, excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, planning skills, and team management skills are essential.
