As the Director of Operations you will direct and assist with the management of the day to day operation of a busy trucking company and lead employee engagement. 

The position is responsible for providing key leadership, direction, organization, management, monitoring of compliance, strategy development and training throughout the organization.10-25% local travel across shifts and workweeks required. 
Responsibilities include:
  • Supervisory responsibilities – manages and supports staff
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, development, planning, assisting and directing, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Effectively leads change and builds engaged and interactive workforce to deliver business growth. 
  • Responsible for developing the best practices and data analysis to enhance driver and vehicle safety through policies, and programs.
  •  Ensures compliance and accountability with all regulations and record keeping concerning driver hours of service.
  • Responsible for organizing, administering and directing a team approach among direct reports to maximize performance.
  • Establishes efficient processes throughout the organization  by developing or revising standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, safe and compliant service.
  • Defines operational objectives, develops short and long-range goals, and works with leaders to determine capabilities and capacity requirements.
  • Interfaces with customers and vendors to evaluate and ensure relationships are strong and customers are retained and when possible expands services offered to customers.
  • Develop and/or monitor Key Performance Indicators and ensure adequate management reporting on the performance of each business line as business is expanded into various sectors.
  • Manage expenditures to achieve budgeted targets. Ensure operation runs efficiently.
  • Manage cost improvement initiatives to achieve on-going operational cost optimization. Interacts with other managers and subordinates on continuous improvement of processes and employee performance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Logistics or equivalent experience. MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressively increased managerial experience in a logistics or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record in controlling costs to budget.
  • Proven track record of successful problem solving utilizing critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to mentor and coach employees throughout organization and create training plans that will help engage and retain top talented employees.
 Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
  • Must possess and demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities and be a motivator of people.
  • Must possess and demonstrate the ability to direct individuals and delegate responsibilities and tasks.
  • Must possess and demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Must possess problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be computer literate and able to utilize MS Office, spreadsheets, CRM, ERP systems, etc.
  • Logistics industry knowledge required.
  • Must be well organized and detail-oriented with proven initiative and self-starter skills.
  • Must possess and demonstrate knowledge and relevant Safety Regulations (eg. DOT)
  • Must be able to interact effectively with individuals within the company, customers and vendors.
