Position Summary
This is an In Office Part Time Position
The Part-Time Quality Inspector supports QLA’s Quality Management System by performing inspection and verification activities on incoming, in-process, and finished goods. This role works closely with the Quality Manager and Production team to ensure products meet drawing requirements, specifications, and internal quality standards.
This is a hands-on position. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable using measurement equipment, and able to follow documented procedures consistently.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection, Verification, Calibration
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections per drawings, specifications, and inspection instructions.
- Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, ring/plug gauges, optical comparator, and counting scales.
- Verify part quantities, dimensions, and visual characteristics as required.
- Document inspection results accurately on job travelers, inspection records, and Certificates of Conformance (COCs).
- Identify and report nonconforming product to the Quality Manager and follow segregation and documentation requirements.
- Perform internal calibrations and verification checks on designated inspection and measurement equipment in accordance with QLA procedures and work instructions.
- Accurately complete calibration records, labels, and associated documentation.
Quality System Support
- Follow QLA’s ISO 9001:2015-compliant procedures and work instructions.
- Support traceability by ensuring inspection records align with part numbers, revision levels, and job documentation.
- Assist with basic gage care and proper handling of inspection equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized inspection area.
Collaboration
- Communicate inspection findings clearly with the Quality Manager and Production team.
- Support reinspection activities following rework or corrective actions as directed.
- Escalate quality concerns when requirements are unclear or cannot be met.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Experience in a manufacturing, inspection, or machine shop environment.
- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and tolerances.
- Hands-on experience using measurement tools (or strong aptitude with willingness to learn).
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, scanning documents).
Preferred
- Prior experience working in an ISO 9001 environment.
- Familiarity with inspection records, travelers, and Certificates of Conformance.
- Experience inspecting small mechanical components or assemblies.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Part-time hours.
- On-site role working in a manufacturing and inspection environment.
- Standing, walking, and light lifting may be required.
